Last night I went out to photograph the Silversun Pickups at Het Depot in Leuven, for Frontview Magazine. Honestly, a band I didn’t know. One of the fun things of doing concert photography is that you get to discover a whole lot of new music, sometimes bands you get to love at first sight, other times bands that, well, don’t really stick. This is the case with Silversun Pickups. Even though I enjoyed their energy, I didn’t connect emotionally with the music. This together with the bad lighting made it a difficult gig to capture. But in the end, I saw happy faces in the audience, and happy faces on stage, and that’s what live music is all about!
